Adhesive and Cohesive Cracking Analysis of Asphalt Mastics in Contact with Steel Substrates Using an Energy-Based Crack Initiation Criterion

چکیده

Adhesive and cohesive properties play a vital role in the durability of asphalt mixtures. As result lack models characterizing adhesive cracking, occurrence failure has not been fully formulated by using an explicit mechanical approach. Strain energy density intact mastics is transformed into surface energies as cracks initiate. This study developed energy-based crack initiation criterion based on Griffith model differentiated cracking. The onset cracking was identified deviation measured stress from linear viscoelastic stress. released strain at balanced increase energies, thus creating new surface. Several fracture parameters such initial size, stress, tensile strength were proposed to analyze effects sample thickness, rate, temperature, filler concentration mastics. Results indicate that energy, significantly depend mastic test temperature but independent thickness rate. In particular, variation 20 °C 35 reaches 127.4%, its decrease up 46.9% varies 0 60%. 160 μm 1000 results 150.0% growth size 74.4% reduction Therefore, increasing can essentially improve toughness resist decreasing enhances loading capacity. It provides deep understanding mixture perspective energies.

An Outrun Competition of Corrosion Fatigue and Stress Corrosion Cracking on Crack Initiation in a Compressor Blade

First row rotating blades of four axial-flow compressors were prematurely fractured. Previous investigations showed that the site atmosphere contains corrosive compounds which lead to an increase in possibility of pitting on the blades. It was also revealed that the crack was originated from two corrosion pits. Thus, this work is conducted to ascertain which of fatigue or stress corrosion crack...

An Investigation on Corrosion and Stress Corrosion Cracking initiation of a Ferritic Stainless Steel in a Tertiary Amine Solution

The present study focused on stress corrosion cracking (SCC) and corrosion behavior of ferritic stainless steel (grade 430) in activated methyl diethanolamine (aMDEA) solution, which is classified as a tertiary amine. In this regard, cyclic polarization and U-bend tests were performed in CO2 loaded aMDEA with different concentrations at 25 and 70 °C to observe corrosion behavior and ...

Crack Initiation and Extension in Steel for Short Loading Times

The one-point bend impact test has been used to investigate crack instability conditions for short loading times (as short as 2.5 p) in high strength steel. It was found that, in the range of loading rates investigated, no time-modified fracture criterion need be invoked. The resistance to crack extension may, however, increase significantly with crack growth due to the formation of even small ...
